A Day of Golf, Generosity, and Gratitude: Thank You, Binnacle House!

We were honored (and a little humbled, to be honest) to be selected by the Binnacle House Foundation as one of the nonprofit beneficiaries of this year’s outing. While the sun set on a day of friendly competition and generous hearts at Stanton Ridge, the real highlight came a few weeks later, on July 16th, when we presented with the $15,000 check from Binnacle House. Those funds will directly support our 90-day transitional housing program and our broader mission of helping families in crisis find stability and long-term solutions.

It was 90 degrees in the shade, but that didn’t stop the teams from swinging, sweating, and showing up in a big way at the Binnacle House Golf Outing on June 23rd. With the rolling greens of Stanton Ridge as the backdrop and 144 golfers out in full force, it was a day full of sun, smiles, and surprising generosity.

And for Family Promise of Hunterdon County – it was a lifeline.

Let’s just say: it meant more than anyone there probably realized.

“Hole in One? Not quite. But this gift? A total win.”

Our team was lucky enough to join in the day – not just to witness the $10,000 Hole-in-One challenge (no winners this year, sadly!), but to meet the incredible folks who made the event possible. From sponsors to players to the amazing crew at Binnacle House, we were floored by the energy and heart everyone brought to the course.

More than once, we were asked, “So what exactly does Family Promise do?”

Here’s the short version: We serve families and individuals who are experiencing crisis – those facing housing insecurity, eviction, or displacement. Through our transitional housing program, case management, and wraparound services, we help them stabilize, heal, and rebuild.

We walk alongside our guests – not just for a week, not just with a meal – but through the difficult and courageous work of regaining footing and finding permanent housing.

More Than Just a Check

Here’s the thing: $15,000 is a game-changer for us. Right now, our needs are real – and urgent. The cost of providing transitional housing, utilities, individualized support, and basic essentials adds up quickly.

So when a group like Binnacle House steps in – not just to donate, but to include us in their story – it feels like more than a gift. It feels like solidarity.

Scenes from the Green

Was it hot? Oh yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely. We left with sunburned noses, full hearts, and renewed hope.

The open bar helped. But honestly, so did the reminder that people care deeply—and that we are not alone in this work.

To the Binnacle House Team…

To everyone who organized, sponsored, played, and gave: thank you. You didn’t just support a golf event—you supported families in crisis who are working hard to rebuild.

Binnacle House, your longstanding commitment to youth and community wellness is an inspiration. Thank you for welcoming Family Promise into your vision this year. We’re truly grateful.

 What Comes Next?

We keep going. Every dollar of this gift is already at work—keeping our transitional home running, providing resources for our guests, and investing in futures that are still being written.

And if you’re reading this and wondering, “How can I help?” – there are plenty of ways:

  • Share our mission with others
  •

Together, we can help families overcome crisis and move forward with dignity, hope, and the support they deserve.
